Beta Tester Instructions

Welcome! Thank you for volunteering to test the pre-release developer build of Our Family Voices. Your participation and feedback are vital in helping us safely capture and share precious oral histories.

Follow the guidelines below to register as a tester and install the pre-release mobile application on your iOS or Android device.

Private Developer Build: These developer builds are meant for designated testers only. Please do not share these invitation links publicly.

Apple iOS Installation

We use Apple's official TestFlight utility to securely distribute developer builds on iOS devices.

  1. Install TestFlight: Download and install the free TestFlight app from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Join the Beta Program: Tap the TestFlight invitation link on your iOS device to accept our invite.
  3. Install Our Family Voices: Once accepted, the Our Family Voices development build will appear inside the TestFlight app. Tap Install (or Update).
  4. Launch the App: Open the app from your home screen or straight from the TestFlight container.

Google Android Installation

We distribute development builds via Google Play's Closed Testing track and secure direct downloads.

  1. Register Google ID: Ensure you provided the exact Gmail address linked to your Google Play Store.
  2. Opt-in to the Test: Click our testing program invitation link below and tap "Become a Tester".
  3. Install from Play Store: Tap the link on Google Play to download and install Our Family Voices on your device.
  4. Alternative APK Install: If Google Play is unavailable, you can download the secure direct APK build and follow on-screen prompts.

Feedback and Troubleshooting

If you run into any issues during registration or installation, please let us know. We want the onboarding experience to be as smooth as possible!

  • Crash Reports: If you experience a crash on iOS, you can share a screenshot or report it directly via TestFlight.
  • Send Logs: Send error messages or feedback directly to beta@ourfamilyvoices.com.
  • Join Discussion: Connect with developers and other testers on our Discord or Slack workspace channel.
